Accenture and Mujin Establish Joint Venture 'Accenture Alpha Automation' to Transform Manufacturing and Logistics

Accenture (70%) and Mujin (30%) join forces to establish Accenture Alpha Automation, seamlessly bridging shop-floor robotic operations with enterprise management data to power hyper-automation. Plus, global CEO Julie Sweet's visit to Tokyo HQ.

Accenture and Mujin have officially established Accenture Alpha Automation, a joint venture designed to drive data-driven transformation across the manufacturing and logistics industries (ownership: Accenture 70%, Mujin 30%).

By seamlessly connecting physical shop-floor operational data from autonomous robotic systems with high-level enterprise supply chain and executive management data, the joint venture unlocks a new era of industrial hyper-automation.

Across core manufacturing and logistics hubs worldwide, severe demographic labor shortages are accelerating at an unprecedented pace.

While industrial leaders have invested heavily in robotics and digital transformation (DX), a fundamental chasm has persisted: physical operational reality on the factory floor remains disconnected from executive management and supply chain forecasting. Disruptions or throughput fluctuations on active sorting docks or assembly cells are rarely reflected in corporate ERP systems in real time.

3. Accenture Ventures’ First Asian “Project Spotlight” Strategic Investment

In conjunction with establishing the joint venture, Accenture Ventures completed a direct equity investment in Mujin through Project Spotlight—Accenture’s flagship venture program designed to support disruptive enterprise technologies.

This represents Accenture Ventures’ first-ever Project Spotlight investment in Asia. The partnership provides Mujin direct access to Accenture’s enterprise client ecosystem spanning over 120 countries, drastically accelerating the global adoption of Mujin’s Machine Intelligence platform.


4. August 2024: Global CEO Julie Sweet Visits Mujin Tokyo Headquarters

In August 2024, following the establishment of the joint venture, Julie Sweet, Global CEO of Accenture, alongside members of Accenture’s global executive leadership team, visited Mujin’s headquarters in Tatsumi, Tokyo.

The delegation toured Mujin’s extensive on-site robotics lab, observing live demonstrations of high-speed piece-picking, mixed-case depalletizing, and TruckBot container unloading. The teams engaged in high-level strategic discussions regarding expanding joint automation architectures across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
